Our Historical Background

In 22 nd December 1960, the “Bank’s Car Owners Association” was established under the patronage of veteran bankers namely M/S pangle Britto and Soundranayagam. Initially the bankers who owned the vehicle were enrolled as members.

Thereafter, the successive Committee of Management revised the constitution without damaging the original concept and changed the name of the association as “BOC Staff Thrift & Welfare Society” in order to open membership for all members of staff of Bank of Ceylon.

The following are founder members who were the pioneers in restructuring the society: M/s. S. Jayasooriya, D. Attanayake, Brian Fobes, B J Vincent, T B Amith and V Vejenanthan

Today, over 7,000 employees of the Bank are members of the Society and are enjoying the Financial Benefits, Annual Dividend, Retirement Benefits and other Welfare facilities offers by the society while, developing their Savings and Thrift habits.

Our Vision

To become a strong and viable member-owned society of Bank of Ceylon, which is sustainable and responsive to the urgent financial needs of the members and financial assistance in case of a death of a member while encouraging Thrift and Savings habits among members with financial independence and discipline in a speedy and convenient manner.
